Kalyan Rath is a 22-year-old artist based in Montreal, Canada. Born in Houston, Texas, he grew up singing for the Fort Bend Boys Choir, where he got his first taste in the world of music. Moving to Vancouver at the age of 10, he continued singing for the British Columbia boys. During his time with the choir, his most prominent moment was singing the national anthem on Canada Day at Parliament Hill. At the age of 14, he discovered GarageBand on his mother’s laptop, where he started to teach himself simple composition. With new skills in other instruments such as drums and piano, he discovered his love for composing music and put himself in the direction of creating a career out of his passion. In his grade 11th and 12th year in high school, he auditioned and entered the Burnaby school district’s music production and technology ACE-IT program. After graduating, he attended Selkirk College for music composition, taking courses that involved performing as a musician, composing music for film and TV, song writing, and even a course on music business and planning. Kalyan now resides in Montreal, Canada working as a freelance composer and producer, and still spends every day working to improve his skill set and create new music!
